Judge: Lieut.- Col. Menachem Lieberman

Police Investigator: Zaid Katish

Defense: Maamoun Hashim, Farah Bidasi, Judd Kadamani

There were 6 cases in the docket: two of them were barred from seeing counsel.

Mahmoud Ahmed Muhammad Hasin Amatawa – ID 401702543

Ayman Muhammad Ishak Hasin Amatawa – ID 401641303

Both detaineesinfo-icon – in their early twenties – are barred from seeing counsel. They are suspected of undermining security in the region. They were arrested on 10.7.16 in their homes in Hebron. The investigation requests 15-day remand extension to complete the investigation, which has just begun, even thought the two were interrogated by the Shabak [GSS] for long hours. They seem to be cooperating. We were not allowed to be present in the first part of the hearing, when the detainee meets the judge without attorney present.

Bassem Naim Muslem Albalboul – ID 913174397

The investigator requests an 8-day remand, after which the case goes to the prosecution.

There is an agreement between the investigator and the attorneys and Justice Lieberman accepts it.

Amar Yasser Hassan Qawasme – ID 583878015

The suspect is handicapped as a result of an accident.

After questions and answers (which refer the defense to the secret file) Atty. Firas sums up:

The suspect was arrested about a month ago. He was interrogated about a bag that he had found and brought to the Palestinian police. He was interrogated there for 20 days.

After a harsh interrogation he insisted that the bag and its contents were not his, and was released. Then, he was arrested by the Israelis on 13.6.16. The suspect has 50% disability and has never been involved in hostile activity. Until last Thursday he was barred from seeing an attorney. He was held in detention for 10 days without being interrogated. At the time of his arrest, many people from his area were arrested; some were released. His own father was arrested and released.

There is no evidence to incriminate him. He suffers form a mental condition.

Judge’s summation:

He is suspected of a serious violation, and has given different versions about his involvement in the case. Due to the severity of the allegations, Justice Lieberman grants the Investigators an 8-day extension.
