Translation: Marganit W.

Judge: Lieut. Col. Menahem Lieberman

Police Investigator: Nassib Safa

Defense: Ma’amoun Heshim

Two detaineesinfo-icon in the docket: one of them a minor.

We did not attend this hearing. We were told that other hearings had been transferred to Ofer [Military Court]. We tried to find out why, but the answers were not satisfactory.

The detainee in this case was brought in from another detention center, but the investigator refused to tell us which one. The detainee and the guards were delayed and the judge grew impatient: he asked to transfer the case to Ofer and left the room in a huff. But he was later prevailed upon to stay because the detainee was on his way….

Eventually the detainee showed up. A bearded, short, skinny man surrounded by 3 guards, his hands and feet shackled.

The defense conferred with his client, but the judge asked him to be brief. There was no hearing: the judge summed up the case and Atty. Heshim concurred. (Everyone was in a hurry).

The investigator requested 11 days remand extension.

Justice Lieberman’s summation:

There is no justification for 11 days. I see that the evidence against him is strong: he is involved in activity harmful to security in the region. There are concrete suspicions that tie him to dangerous activity, and he has linked himself to the events.

Remand extension of 4 days followed by transferring the case to the prosecution.
