Morning

6:40 AM, Bethlehem- Checkpoint 300:  four checking stations open. Long lines.  Peopledissatified.  We meet a representativefrom the Ecumenical group.  She tells usthat there was something wrong with the metal detector that delayed thepassing.  Everyone had passed by7:30.  People who came at 7:15 thought itwas an excellent day!  One man with a blueID had difficulty in going to Bethlehem.  He was an Arab, and as an Arab he is permitted to pass.  The soldier did not want to let him go.  Finally the police commander was called, andhe was permitted to pass.

8:00 AM, Etzion DCL: the DCL is being opened and operated by the soldiers.  About thirty people are waiting.  In ten minutes all are invited inside toawait their turns.
