Afternoon

Etzion DCL:  few cars in the parking lot, and the waiting hall is empty.  A man, his hair gray, tells us that he has been requesting passage to Jerusalem for 10 years, in vain.  "Why?",we aks.  "I am a great big Hamas", he grins. Another man in a similar predicament complains bitterly that he cannot support his family, and "Hana hasn't helped him yet".

Meanwhile some people have gathered, and -- surprise, surprise!-- are let in at once, with the words "Enter please".
16:00 PM, Bethlehem - Checkpoint 300:  the usual stream of people running from the vans to the CP, hurrying home after a day's work.  The stream is occasionally stopped, but only for seconds, and passage is swift and smooth.  There is some reverse traffic as well.
