Afternoon

02.30 till 05.00 PM

03:15 PM, Etzion DCL:  on the almost empty parking lot were parked only one Palestinian and one Israeli  car. In the big waiting room one older and one young man were waiting. They are telling me that they are workers, working for the DCL.

A couple was arriving. The older husband (Ethiopian Israeli, Christian, more than 60), the woman Palestinian Muslim from Bethlehem (42).

While she was disappearing behind the turnstile and counters of the DCL the eloquent husband (Hebrew, Arabic, English,  Amharic) was telling us that they got married in Jordan. This one was his third marriage. Another divorced wife had been Jewish. So that he has one Jewish son. Now his Palestinian wife wants to move to Jerusalem in fear that her divorced Muslim husband would kidnap her and kill her - what he had already tried once before. Also both wanted to live together. That's why they came to the DCL.

I gave him Sylvia's telephone number.

Har Homma: five soldiers were at the checkpoint, no traffic.

16:30 PM, Bethlehem- Checkpoint 300:  five empty buses are waiting for passengers to Jerusalem. Only a few Palestinians on their way home are crossing the 4 open counters without difficulties. Three foreigners were on their way to Jerusalem.
