Morning

Bethlehem vicinity

06:40, Bethlehem CP: three checking posts were open. The lines were at times quite long; some times there were no lines at all. The problem, as usual, was on the other side. Two Ecumenical volunteers reported that it took them about 50 minutes to get through the humanitarian line. And there is always the problem of the thugs who force their way to the head of the line.

The two female soldiers at the first booth were greeting smilingly every single person with ‘hello' and then ‘thank you' and ‘have a nice day'. People were astounded - so were we - and in spite of the long wait and the harassment at the other side, many came out smiling.

08:30, Etzion DCL:  two men denied entry into Israel for "security" reasons asked for our help.
