Morning
Seriously? Does this make us safer?

7:10 AM,  Bethlehem - Checkpoint 300:  crowds were waiting outside for their transport to work.  Everyone confirmed that they had come through very quickly this morning.

7.30 AM, Husan:  No clients, so we had time to observe that terrible unpaved  Route 60 underpass between Husan and El Khadr.  It’s hard to know which is worse- struggling over  the rocks and raising dust (those poor pedestrians!) in dry weather, or through the mud when it rains.

8.10 Etzion DCL:   when it opened, there were about 30 men waiting, all for magnetic cards, they said.

9.00 AM,  Nabi Yunis:  four  people to sign power of attorney and pay lawyer to have their ‘permit refusals attended to.
An interesting story we heard from one client:  He had his paper from the police assuring that he was ‘clean’ of any charge.  But then he was ‘invited’ to speak to the police officer then for half an hour he was friendlily cajoled to become an informer  about thefts and so on – he would earn 300 shekels for every stolen car he reported.  When he refused, his i.d. was thrown at him and he suddenly found himself refused entry (permanently?) as a ‘manu’a modi’ini.’  (= refused on intelligence grounds).

We visited the family of the mentally handicapped young man who has now been held at Ofer for two months.  His case is coming up again this coming week.  No need to say how anxious all the family is about him and worried that there will just be another adjournment.
