Russian Compound

On Monday, as usual, we visited the detention centre in the Russian Compound, to follow-up on hearings concerning remand extensions.

We arrived at 10:00, as usual. After we showed our papers, we stood a corner waiting for a security body-check. We saw the attorneys passing by us on their way to the remand extensions courtroom.

We waited for 45 minutes until the guard finally checked us.

When we finally entered the courtroom, two of the attorneys walked out of it, and told us that they had heard two of the cases and the session had ended.

None the less, we entered the courtroom - to hear the tail-end of the conversation between Justice Azriel Levy and the investigator Mahmoud Afif: "..... You had enough time to interrogate the detainee: this is the third remand extension.  You read the decision of Justice Dahan, but did not use the time you had. I am extending the remand until tomorrow: either transfer the case to Ofer Military Court, or release the detainee ... ".
