Morning

00 AM, Bethlehem - Checkpoint 300: five open positions, 2-3 men at each. The Palestinians say that, on their side it is very crowded. According to a foreign volunteer, there are 400 people outside and only one soldier responsible for two turnstiles, one on the humanitarian lane and the other for everybody else. The Paklesrtinians say that yesterday was a good day, and today isn’t. The volunteer says that yesterday they passed people through quickly, and everyone crossed in an hour and a half. Today the men say that it took them between 1.5 and two hours. The woman soldier on the first position sprawls on a chair, half sitting and half lying, and that’s how she answers. An embarassing sight.

10 AM, Etzion DCL:  seventeen men waiting. The DCO opened at 08:15.

30 AM, Beit Ummar:

00 AM, Nabi Yunis: various requests from people with police problems.

00-10:30 AM, Etzion DCL:  the waiting men say that during an hour no one was called to enter. The loudspeaker was very noisy. Something not working properly. The woman soldier in the window answered my question saying that she was forbidden to talk to me. I phoned the office, and a woman soldier answered pleasantly that I should go back to the window in a few mninutes while she tries to pass the message to an officer. And, indeed, within a few minutes the men entered.
