Afternoon

16:45 - 17:15

15:45 - On Road 611, next to the popular breach (in the separation fence) there is traffic in two directions.  Seven people return home from work, one of them with baggage (some kind of merchandise), and two leave in the direction of Barta’a- Seamline Zone.

15:55 – Barta’a-Reihan Checkpoint

Carrying on as usual.  Palestinian and Israeli cars arrive one after the other and bring tens of workers who get off at the very long sleeveinfo-icon (the enclosed passage to the terminal), which is clean and ornamented with blossoming plants.  Some of the workers stop at the kiosk and stock up on rugalach for Friday.  Several families return from Jenin to Barta’a.  Exactly over the international border, in the middle of the Occupation.

16:45 – Tura-Shaked Checkpoint

Ten workers return to the West Bank from their jobs in the Seamline Zone.  Two of them cross the new gravel road to the lone house.  Cars cross in two directions with no problems; only one of the villagers on a donkey, who crosses at Tura, waits about 5 minutes until the barrier is raised.

Roadwork next to the settlement of Tura, which we have reported on before, continues.  One of the workers told us that material for infrastructure (a kind of quarry) was being removed from there and that the settlement had expropriated land from the small village of Daher al-Malek.  They also said that there was an intention to attach more land to the settlement and surround it with a fence.
