Hebron, South Hebron Hills, Tarqumiya

Tarkumiya checkpoint - around 11:30 a lot of workers are returning home earlier than expected probably because of the Ramadan fast that started yesterday on Wednesday.

In the traffic circle between Tarkumiya and Idna are two soldiers who descending from  the pillbox located at the entrance to Idna and watched the passers-by. Usually the observation of the area is done from the top of the tower.

At the Hebron junction, a military jeep and the traffic police were standing at the entrance to Hebron, no Palestinian vehicles were seen being stopped or stopped.

At the entrance to Kiryat Arba, we met Atta Jaber, who had returned from selling vegetables at the market and complained about the high cost of water that he had to pay for the water tanks he buys. There is no possibility of his irrigating the areas and fields of the family  as much as is necessary. The crops depend on a regular supply of water.

We entered Hebron through the industrial area and met Bassem who lives in front of the growing House of Contention which is there to allow more settlers to come and settle in the area. IDF forces guard the settler families, soldiers man the checkpoint located between the disputed house, a cemetery, the mosque and families of Palestinians living nearby. Residents living around the disputed house are afraid to leave their homes at night lest they be detained by soldiers or harassed by settlers which makes their lives unreasonably difficult.

Near the Cave of the Patriarchs everything is closed and desolate.  Abed's shop and shops around are locked and there is no going in and out, perhaps because of the Ramadan fast or the corona or an unwanted routine.
